By moving to a virtual office setup, the company hopes to make a positive impact to the environment, create a healthier work environment, and reduce costs to pass savings along to customers.

Insight Video Net announced last week their plans to transition their business and join the ranks of virtual office users. The move is being made by the high tech company in an effort to meet their corporate responsibility and sustainability goals.

Insight Video Net is a provider of digital asset management software solutions for the public safety and government industries. The company hopes to make a positive impact to the environment, create a healthier work environment, and reduce costs to pass savings along to customers.

The company’s CEO Robert A. Carreon said in a recent press release, “This is an exciting change for Insight Video Net that allows us to make a positive impact to the environment and contribute to a more balanced and healthy lifestyle for our employees at the same time.”

The company found the recession an opportune time to follow through with an idea they had long envisioned. “Given that we’re a high technology company, we have envisioned operating a virtual office for some time. With the current state of the economy, we were looking at ways to reduce costs so we could pass the savings on to our customers, so this move at this time made a lot of sense. This is a win-win situation,” Carreon said.

Insight Video Net will employ standard virtual office technologies including broadband internet, virtual private and secure networks, VOIP telephony and video conferencing. Business center rentals will be offered for meetings that must be conducted in person. Company employees will be trained on creating a green home office environment featuring reduced power consumption and a focus on recycling. The company is expected to complete the project early next year.

Like Insight Video Net, more and more businesses of all sizes are taking advantage of the unique flexibilities of virtual offices. Virtual offices offer the perks and conveniences one might normally only find with a large corporation such as administrative service offerings, professional phone answering service, and access to communication technology. These services and amenities typically come with flexible contracts that are available for immediate start.

Aside from these personal conveniences for clients, Insight Video Net also looks forward to the positive environmental impact this shift in business will bring. The company calculates that by employing virtual offices, they will reduce their carbon footprint by 158 metric tons of Co2 emissions. The company also points out that their CMS Flex software can eliminate the need for CDs and DVDs, further reducing consumer costs and cutting back the amount of waste in landfills.

Insight Video Net highlights an improved work-life balance for employees as another critical part of their decision. The company cites studies that indicate a higher employee satisfaction among virtual office users, who are able to save on commute time, travel expense and other office-related expenses, and enjoy a less stressful lifestyle.
